Sputnik is a rotational molded stool made of recycled polyethylen.
While visiting a manufacture of rotomolding, I noticed that during the process it comes to a big amount of scrapings, resulting from machining. These leftovers end on the floor and after a day of work you have a colorful mountain of plastic flakes. Normally, this waste is given to a recycling company, which grinds it down, in order to produce a dark low-quality plastic. This leftover material is the source for my stool.
The timber legs are screwed into the plastic body, which makes it easy to mount and dismount them. The round shape is not only creating an iconic look, it also encourages you to sit in an upright position.
