Ranec is Macedonian and means backpack. The product is based on the traditional basket weaving knowledge. By adapting this old craft to manufacture a new product, the tradition can be preserved and simultaneously integrated into contemporary culture. The backpack only uses rope and reed to create a cost-effective, locally made product.
This research focused on mixing materials and the idea of creating an object that could work as a series. After arriving at the work site, it became quiet clear that it is sensible to use the manufacturing process as a starting point to translate old craft traditions into the present. Sticking to the standard materials that are available for local craftsmen, extra costs and unnecessary organization is avoided.
Organico has been selected to be shown from 16 till 22 April 2018 at the exhibition “PROBE” of the Product Design course of Universität der Künste Berlin. It was presented at SaloneSatellite, in the section for schools and recent graduates of the international acclaimed Salone del Mobile in Milano.
Together with Dominik Annies and Daniel Theis I participated in the Exhibition “Tracing Utopia”. On the traces of utopian thinking we explored a secret place which layer hidden for your eyes. Your installation follows the traces of “Utopia”, inspired by the idea of an invisible part of our life. It raises the question of what else is there in between the matters of space and time.

My collection of digital modified Objects Inside the Grid is going to be exhibited in the context of vorspiel transmediale at designtransfer. The exhibition will deal with matter which cannot be directly experienced such as the hidden world of particles, ions, molecules and waves, as well as the invisible yet highly politically significant structures consisting of big data and metadata. The show will display an intriguing collection of investigative and experimental works made by students from the product design course led by Prof. Axel Kufus, Johanna Schmeer und Hanna Wiesener.
Exhibition Opening Times: 17 & 18 February, 12:00-18:00
